Buying Shetland Produce
Shetland food can still be a little hard to track down on the UK mainland, but the good news is that it’s steadily becoming easier. Shetland lamb, salmon and mussels are appearing more often on restaurant menus and we hope that more shops will begin to offer Shetland produce.
If there’s no local supplier near you, please bear in mind that you can order good Shetland food and drink direct from many of the producers listed in this Food Directory. Quite a few of them have agents on the mainland and will be able to tell you whom to contact for supplies; this particularly applies to fish and shellfish.
Alternatively, why not ask your favourite local shop to order some from the producers? You can alert the shopkeeper to this online version of the directory. He or she is also welcome to get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to help them with contact details.
We stress that this isn’t a comprehensive list of outlets for Shetland food, but it may be useful as a starting point. We hope to expand it in future.
